Somatic Movement group classes involve simple yet specialised movements, done slowly & comfortably on a mat. Somatic Movement is gentle & safe, designed to be suitable for people of all ages, in all physical conditions.
The movements are designed to relax body & mind & to sequentially unwind tension & remove restrictions in the body, by increasing your awareness of your own body & teaching you new movement patterns.
These movement patterns are designed to help improve your functioning in your everyday life, such as your ability to sit comfortably, to stand, walk & move freely.
As well as improving your general flexibility, mobility & strength, Somatic Movement classes can be specially designed to help you improve your performance in your favourite sports, by teaching you the efficient & effective movement patterns that underly success in that field.
Somatic Movement classes are a wonderful complement to Yoga, Pilates, gymwork & other movement & bodywork approaches & or can be enjoyed in their own right. Most people feel uplifted & relaxed at the end of a class, sometimes feeling quite dramatic improvements in the space of an hour – like feeling taller, breathing more easily, feeling lighter and more relaxed.
Somatic Movement can quickly allow you to develop a new sense of freedom in your body, bringing greater awareness & new perspectives.
